Shreveport’s very own pediatric physician Dr. Donald Mack began the St. Jude’s Dream Home Giveaway in 1991. Every year since, a home is built in Shreveport/Bossier and raffled off to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Mack was also the first doctor to send an out-of-state patient to St. Jude’s for treatment.
The Dream Home Giveaway has since gained popularity and spread across the U.S., with 30 homes up for raffle this year! It is St. Jude’s largest single event fundraiser, and has raised over $290 million for the hospital! Wow!
